From Pastors desk:Easter has been a significant day for 36 years of my life. I was baptized on Easter Sunday, and I was confirmed on Easter Sunday. Among many days of the Christian calendar, Easter is the most important day of them all. Yes, Christmas is important. Pentecost is important. But when you come to think of it, everything about Christian faith is built upon the day of Easter. Yet, I have to confess that Easter is the peak of almost every pastor and most pastors are going through withdrawal or seasonal depression from the Monday after Easter. This has been true for me many years since my seminary life. However, this year, I have discovered that Easter is not only one day, but we are celebrating the season of Easter until the day of Pentecost. Even though the season of Easter has been in Christian tradition for over 2000 years, it is this year that I came to realize that Easter continues. This realization is very important for me. I am entering a very dangerous 3-5 years of ministry (according to the statistics). As I listened to the colleagues of parish ministry in Early Ministry Institute of Northeast Synod last week, I came to discover that it is true that a very high percentage of pastors are burnt out, depressed or even angry in their 3-5 years of ministry. As we shared stories and tears together, I prayerfully thought about why this 3rd to 5th year of ministry might be a big downfall for many pastors. Of course, each congregation is different from another, and no two pastoral context are identical. Yet, I came to see one common feeling from my suffering brothers and sisters in ministry. That is, What can I do more? This question drives ministers crazy. It is exhausting to be caught in this question. But then, this question can mean two totally different things. First, it can mean, I have done everything that I possibly could, but the people would not budge. I am ready to shake the dust off from my shoes and move on. And second, I am so powerless facing the pains and sufferings of my flock that I dont know what to do. I am too vulnerable to continue to be in this ministry. Although these struggles come from entirely different perspectives on ministry, I have come to see that both of them come from the same symptom the messiah complex. And let me tell you, it was a very hurtful recognition. Yet it was a very thankful realization. A couple of years ago, from the pulpit, I said that I did not expect Bay Road family to remember me after I am gone. But I would be very happy if theyd remember Jesus whom I so wanted to introduce. For I am not a messiah, but He is. It is a necessary and constant reminder that Bay Road Church is not mine, but His. And in this confession, I am waiting together with my Bay Road family for when, how and where our Shepherd will lead us. Oh, yes. It is very scary to put our entire trust in God. I sometimes even worry about God dropping the ball. But then, He tells me gently, Sung, let me handle this. Trust me. OK? As I confessed before on the pulpit, I am waiting now. I am waiting to see the power of Lords resurrection to happen in the lives of my brothers and sisters in Bay Road family. Now, let me ask you. Do you need His power of resurrection in your life? If you do, would you wait with me? Would you hold my hand and prayerfully yet nervously wait for Christ to revive His spirit in the shadowy corners of our lives?

Trustees Newsletter May 2007
We are preparing for Spring!!!! The sand barrels and driveway markers have been removed, the hoses have been placed around the building and grass seed was spread on some bare spots of the lawn. We are arranging for mowing of our two properties and are studying our insurance policy to up-date the building replacement costs and make other adjustments to strengthen our coverage and look for opportunities to save money. The well-head was repaired of winter damage as was the mailbox and lighting fixtures by the sign. An upright freezer was donated to the church and the two old freezers were removed from the basement. The Trustees will hold their Spring cleanup day on Saturday, May 12th immediately after the Mens full breakfast (9:30 AM). All church members are invited to this breakfast. Those who cannot make the breakfast are still welcome to help with the cleanup. If we have ten or more volunteers, we expect the cleanup to be completed in less than two hours. Many hands make light work.
The Mens Ministry will be holding a full breakfast on Saturday, May 12th at 8:00 am in Anderson Hall, open to all. Following breakfast, Bob Bayle will be giving a slide show of the Adirondacks. At 9:30 we would like those who are able to help with the Spring cleanup. Please bring a rake if you plan to stay and help with the cleanup. We expect the work to take about one hour. CHUCKLE CORNER KIDS IN CHURCH... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Reverend Billy Graham tells of a time early in his ministry when he arrived in a small town to preach a sermon. Wanting to mail a letter, he asked a young boy where the post office was. When the boy had told him, Dr. Graham thanked him and said, "If you'll come to the Baptist Church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to heaven." The boy replied, "I don't think I'll be there... You don't even know your way to the post office." A little boy opened the big and old family Bible with fascination, and looked at the old pages as he turned them. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible, and he picked it up and looked at it closely. It was an old leaf from a tree that had been pressed in between the pages. "Momma, look what I found," the boy called out. "What have you got there, dear?" his mother asked. With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered: "I think it's Adam's suit!" A little girl became restless as the preacher's sermon dragged on and on. Finally, she leaned over to her mother and whispered, "Mommy, if we give him the money now, will he let us go?"
